Blue Wave hat

Another knitting pattern: Blue Wave Hat (click through for pic)

  • Size 10 dpns
  • Bulky weight yarn (used Lion’s Pride Woolspun in Aquamarine)

Pattern: CO 88 sts onto dpns.

Rib 2×2 for 1” (k2, p2)

K for 1”.

Alternate LC, RC 2×2 (see end) all the way around.

K until 6”.

Decrease pattern:
(K9, k2tog) 8 times, k 1 row;
(K8, k2tog) 8 times, k 1 row;
(K7, k2tog) 8 times, k 1 row;
(K6, k2tog) 8 times, k 1 row;
(K5, k2tog) 8 times, k 1 row;
(K4, k2tog) 8 times, k 1 row;
(K3, k2tog) 8 times, k 1 row;
(K2, k2tog) 8 times, k 1 row; BO

LC (left cable) 2×2: slip 2 sts to cable needle, hold in front. Knit 2 sts off working needle. Knit the 2 sts off cable needle.

RC (right cable) 2×2): slip 2 sts to cable needle, hold in back. Knit 2 sts off working needle. Knit the 2 sts of the cable needle.

There’s no purling in the main part of the hat for the cables. The only place you’re going to purl is on the ribbing at the brim. To decrease size, CO in a lesser increment of 8 (80 sts, 72 sts).
